In Math, we always ask the same question — why am I learning this? Will I be going around factorising equations in 5 years? Will triangles be part of my future?
Well, we don’t know for sure. But there’s one Math topic that you might want to take note of, especially after you hear this tragic story of Cally…
—
Cally is cooking for the first time. And as a first-timer, it decided to go for the “easiest” option — scrambled eggs. For itself and its friend.
How hard can it be to turn eggs into food? Or so, Cally thought.
The recipe seems easy. 3 ingredients. Some heat. A few minutes. And the scrambled eggs will all be ready.
The recipe was designed for 1. By direct proportion, Cally had to double the ingredients so it can serve 2.
2 eggs for 1 person. 4 eggs for 2 people.
2 blocks of butter for 1 person. 4 blocks of butter for 2.
And… 20 grams of salt?!
Cally miscalculated the amount of salt it needed.
If Cally had good knowledge of proportion, it’ll need only 5 grams x 2 = 10 grams.
Lol. Okay, bye.
